NC Legislative Election Results - 2024

Overall results
The table below displays the overall results for the three legislative elections. For each chamber, we see
- The total number of seats available,
- The total number of votes for each party, and
- The total number of seats won by each party.
In addition, the table shows the cumulative total.
We can clearly see the effects of gerrymandering on the election. This is most stark in the state legislative elections where Democrats received slightly more votes in each chamber, yet Republicans won 59% of the seats in the House and 62% of the seats in the Senate. With 60% required for a super-majority, the legislature is one seat in the state House away from that super-majority.
There's a similar effect in the US Congress where Republicans received 55% of the votes but 71% of the seats. This is in particular contrast to the 2022 Congress which was a 7/7 split. The districts were court ordered that year but that court order was rescinded after the State Supreme Court flipped.

These results were processed from the precinct level results released shortly after the election and available on this webpage from the NC SBE. Thus, they've not yet been certified.
